La solució passa per compilar des de les fonts la última versió d'ALSA. Després del procés explicat a
*http://monespaceperso.org/blog-en/2010/05/02/upgrade-alsa-1-0-23-on-ubuntu-lucid-lynx-10-04/
tindré instal.lada la versió 1.0.23.

M'ha funcionat la compilació correctament i s'ha solucionat el problema del kernel RT
<pre>
$ cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.
Compiled on Sep 29 2010 for kernel 2.6.31-11-rt (SMP).
</pre>

Prèviament s'havia d'editar el fitxer /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf i posar a sota:

options snd-hda-intel model=hp-m4
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1
